Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India announced that it is ramping up production of premium hatchback Baleno to meet the current demand and reduce waiting period. Citing increased demand which has resulted in waiting periods of between 6-8 months, the company will boost production.
Maruti Suzuki has over 45,000 bookings for Baleno . Increased production to around 12,000 units per month will not only bring down waiting period but will also allow the company to cater to increased export demands. Maruti has started exporting Baleno to Japan from January this year.
Besides stepping up production, Maruti Suzuki is also planning increase in number of NEXA outlets which will go up from 127 outlets in April this year to 250 by the end of the current financial year.
Suzuki Motor Corp is also initiating a pilot project at the company plant in Gujarat by the end of this financial year wherein supplies of vehicles and components will be exclusive to Maruti Suzuki. The Gujarat plant will supply vehicles and components exclusively to MSIL, which has a capacity to make 2,50,000 vehicles annually in the first phase.
